The opening of the Garden Plain Pool is planned to take place alongside the town’s annual Fourth of July celebration. As of now, construction is on schedule, helped by a warm and dry winter that allowed steady progress.
The pool is expected to hire between 10 and 15 employees, depending on availability and scheduling. Positions will include a pool manager, assistant manager, lifeguards, and concession stand workers.
Admission prices have not been finalized yet, but they are expected to range from $4 to $6 per person. There may also be discounts for families, children, and senior citizens. In addition, season passes will be available, with pricing to be determined by the City Council.
The total cost of constructing the pool and bathhouse is estimated at $3.27 million. About half of this amount is being covered by a grant from the National Parks Service. To help pay for the remaining costs, the city is working with the Council of Hope, a local nonprofit organization, to raise funds through community donations.
Mayor Kevin Hammond said, “We are very excited for the pool to open and can’t wait to see all the smiles on the kids’ faces!”
